How it began

A single chair, built for a friend.

The first Mustachio Back was made for a friend who had worn through three store-bought chairs in as many years. It outlasted them all, and he asked for another. Then a friend of his did.

The workshop never grew beyond what a few hands could build well. Eight to ten weeks per chair, start to finish, signed by whoever made it.

The Method

Eight to ten weeks,
four hands,
one chair.

  1. 01

    The frame

Kiln-dried hardwood, mortise-joined and glued. Everything that bears weight is built to bear it for decades.

  2. 02

    The leather

Full-grain aniline, cut by hand from the centre of the hide. Edges turned, seams hand-stitched.

  3. 03

    The finish

Eight-way hand-tied suspension, then nail trim tapped one at a time. The chair is signed before it ships.

“Good furniture is not about more options. It is about the right one, made by someone who will answer for it.”
